Hi Jim,
Clive and I went to one of those Butlin's weekenders - at Bognor about 3 years ago - and it was great.
Ian Andrew on this network was telling me he was at another not so long ago and Winfield Parker put in an appearance. If Ian reads this, he may add his opinion or maybe you can drop him a line.
Wendy Foy, also on here, goes to them pretty regularly.
For £190 you can't go too far wrong. We were staggered to find how goood it was with about 3,500 people there. Not really for the soul purists but a lot better than watching The X Factor!

Hi Guys,
I've never done a Butlins but if you like your weekenders soulful & good value then the Birmingham Hilton is not to be missed. It has several rooms that cater to most musical tastes (with the exception of hardened northern fans). It has a great crowd of friendly likeminded people; has record bars & live acts. For those that don’t already know about it details can be viewed here http://www.luxurysoulweekender.com/next_event_may.asp
or

Paddy I'll even start a discussion on it :-)

Haven't yet done Butlins at Skegness but a few friends have and they enjoyed it. The only snag for me is that they normally require block-booking of accommodation similar to Pontins at Prestatyn and I prefer to have a single room in B&B.

I do enjoy the other Skegness weekenders which take place in March and September at the Grosvenor Hotel. These are much easier to book as it is simply sold as an event ticket. I will add this as an event on here in due course, have also been meaning to write a little review and look-ahead on this board, will do that as a seperate thread.

We went to a Butlins Weekender, Bognor in September and immediately booked for March 2010 , had a great time , 3 live acts each night . I did not think too much of the DJ and wrote to Butlins to this effect, suggesting they get a specialist not just a run of the mill DJ but saying that I would definately reccomend it.
