I have on occasions, had to remove postings of an abusive and rascist nature which were offensive and compromised any right to freedom of speech - though that's just my opinion of course.
With regard to the photographs you posted, I did leave them up for quite a long while and as I said to you, you were still free to display them on your own page.
Whilst I appreciate your reasoning for connecting them to Soul Music, I am sure you will understand that most casual visitors to the site are unlikely to be inspired in the same way.
When comments started coming through of an irritated nature, I deemed it an unncessary state of affairs. The site purports to champion classic Soul Music and that is what it essentially has to remain.
