Night time, is the right time, for Soul time, do the right thing and jot these following event's down in your calendar: State of Soul, South Coast Soul, Deja Vu, Return of the Upbeat, Mr Fish 5 hr rare soul set, Soul Kitchen, Folkestone Soul Club, Northern Soul (Seaford), Escape Club, Grit's & Groove, Northern Soul (Eastbourne) and Too Darn Soulful.
August 5th STATE of SOUL @ Oatlands Park Club, 75 St Mary's Rd, KT13 9PZ, Weybridge (don't you know) it all kicks off at 7pm to 12 midnight. Host's for this inaugural event are: Johnny Pearson, Lindsay Jobling and Jez Bishop. On the bill musically speaking is, quality rare Soul across the decades. Their guest DJ's for this first of many are: Keith Woon and Maxine Woon, as requested they will be trying to recapture their Lightwater Soul Club night's from back in the day.
Tax on the door, a good old fashioned £5. So what you waiting for? It's time to get your mind and body in the right state, for the STATE of SOUL.
August 5th South Coast Soul, @ Bognor Regis Town football Club, Nyewood Lane, PO21 2TY. Resident DJ's Denise Hyde and Keith Robinson guest DJ: John White. They will be spinning Northern Soul, R&B and Motown memories from the 60's & 70's. £5 to get in, it's goes from 7.30pm to 12.30am. You'll find they have a large dance floor, that's good, 'air con' even better and free parking, I'm speechless.

August 5th Deja Vu Fundraising for Dementia @ St Paul's Art's Centre, Chapel Rd, Worthing, start's at 7pm. DJ's: Morgan Howell, Steve McMahon, Andy 'Gruff' brown, Damien Lebas. They will be playing 70's & 80's Soul, Disco, Funk and Jazz Funk, ticket's £12 available from the venue, it's all in a good cause. The meaning of 'Deja Vu': From French, 'is the phenomenon of having the strong sensation, that an event or experience currently being experienced, has been experienced in the past.
August 12th The Return of Upbeat, @ The Palace, American Ground, Hastings, TN34 1JL. Event organizer Roy Williamson return's and with him will be: Danny Fuller, Jimmy Kent and Alfie Linney, they will play a delightful mix of: early Reggae, Northern Soul, Ska and R&B. If you're going to the 'Palace' better have your crown at the ready. It start's at 20:45 and it's free admission, what! To the 'Palace' can't be bad.
August 12th Mr Fish's 5 Hr Rare Soul session, @ Coopers Cask, 3 Farm Rd, BN3 1FB Hove actually. Here we go again with Mister Steven Clancy Fish spinning 45's at his local, for 5 hours it start's at 8pm, living the dream I'd say! Which incorporates everything from Gospel, Disco, Psyche, Funk via Ghetto Soul and Low-riders! Coopers Cask is a great little boozer with local ales & ciders and a fantastic food menu. Sounds like a good opportunity to enjoy some great music, combined with a few little beverages and some great food to soak it all up, smash and nicey, ding dong!!!!
August 18th Soul Kitchen @ The Grey Lady, 70-72 The Pantiles, TN2 5TN, decks start a rollin' @ 7pm to 1am and it's £5 to get in. Head honcho's of the show are Tracey Shaw & John Browne their guest DJ's: Soul Not Dole all the way from Doncaster who are: Terry Wright, Steve Wagstaff and Dean Roach. You can expect to hear a selection of rare underplayed, with dance and a little 80's Disco Soul. A Kitchen is the room where you cook up gastronomic delight's, this one is no different, except it's Soul music delight's.
August 18th Folkestone Soul Club @ Southcliff Hotel, 22-26 The Leas, Kent, CT20 2DY, £5 'll get you in, for 7:30 to midnight. August 19th Northern Soul @ The Royal British Legion, Seaford Club, Legion House, 70 Claremont Rd, BN25 2BJ. Starting time 8pm to 11.30 and they will charge you £1 to get in, cor blimey that's good! You have DJ's: Dug Chant and Jok Evens playing real records on real decks, a must me think's.
Parking at the rear and Club drinks prices, rail 5 mins walk, bus stops directly outside.
August 25th Escape Club in the 90's (that's a blast from the past) @ Patterns, 10 Marine Parade, BN2 1TL Brighton. The great Escaper's are: Paul Clark, Richard Goodlife, Mikee Hollywood, plus guest's DJ's: Brandon Block and Russell Small. They have a classic House gig going on from 11pm to 4am. Ticket's £15 from Music Meltdown, let the melting begin.
August 26th Grits & Groove, Dead Wax Social @ 18a, Bond Street, Brighton, BN1 1RD, get there for 9pm to 3am. DJ's: Eddie Piller, Tony Mappy Hayzer, Ray Patriotic, (I kid you not). Apparently it's billed as “The Ilford Palais, Regency Suite Reunion” ticket's a fiver in advance on line @ SEETICKETS.COM. You will have to look on their Facebook event's page, to get more info. August 26th Northern Soul, @ Haddon Hall Hotel, 17 Devonshire Place, Eastbourne BN21 4AJ, it goes from 8pm to 12:30, 3 'squids' to get in.
